Artist Bio
We’ve always been taught not to stare; not to look at someone deeply because it might offend them. So we look away. But if we don't look, we can't see and if we can't see we can't know - so how can we understand?
Challenging the way we view people living with disability, The STARE addresses uncomfortable and too often unspoken ‘norms’. Through a series of portraits, audio/video recordings and live workshops/performances the project creates conversation to reconstruct what is normal. Dedicated to reflecting the diverse world we live in, The STARE celebrates difference and brings thought-provoking portraits of disability to shop fronts, galleries, billboards, personal and public screens.

Second Echo Ensemble [SEE] is an arts organisation based in nipaluna/Hobart. Formed in 2005 SEE has toured nationally and internationally and is a leading creative force in Tasmania. Our mission is to redefine expectations of possibility; to challenge assumptions we hold about ourselves and others. We make performance to shake up stereotypes and give voice to untold stories that result in real social change.
